The Shortlist of six is derived from 12 or less submissions chosen independently by Judge Liz Toohey-Wiese and Jury Members Heidi Mckenzie and Mariam Zohra D. Submissions independently chosen by more than one juror are in highlighted. Some jurors were compelled to present more than six submissions, those are printed here in brackets at the end of the Longlist.

The judges and jury members viewed the anonymous submissions from August 20 to October 20, and they each presented their six best selections producing the long and then the short lists. The First, Second and Third Place Winners and three Honorable Mentions will be announced on November 3rd, and the awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 26 in Surrey, British Columbia. Each award promises $1000 for the First Place Winner.
Surrey Muse Arts Society is proud to have received over 300 submissions from 66 different cities in Canada, and it welcomes all poets, writers, artists and musicians who made submissions to the 2022 Surrey Muse Art & Literature Awards. For the Norval Morrisseau Award for Visual Arts, we are grateful to Judge Liz Toohey-Wiese and Jury Members Heidi Mckenzie and Mariam Zohra D for their valuable contributions to this year’s visual arts contest. As well, this is the first time they would be seeing the names of visual artists they chose.
