The judges and jury members viewed the anonymous submissions from August 20 to October 20, and they each presented their six best selections producing the long and then the short lists. The First, Second and Third Place Winners and the three Honorable Mentions will be announced on November 10th, and the awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 25 in Surrey, British Columbia. Each award promises $1000 for the First Place Winner.

Surrey Muse Arts Society is proud to have received over 203 submissions from 90 cities located in 12 provinces in Canada. We welcome all poets, writers, artists and musicians who made submissions to the 2023 Surrey Muse Art & Literature Awards. For the Susan Crean Award for Nonfiction, we are grateful to Judge Elee Kraljii Gardiner and Jury Members Ann Wilson and Fauzia Rafique for their valuable contributions to this year’s nonfiction contest. As well, this is the first time they would be seeing the names of writers they chose.
